Cody's birthday....Fathers Day

We had a great weekend! Saturday was Cody's birthday. Hard to believe he is 11!

He invited three of his friends over to the house for pizza and ice cream.

Lorelei makes sure everyone gets a healthy portion of ice cream!

I then loaded them all in the car and took them to the Dallas pool (about a 1/2 hour away). The boys had a blast. They swam for about 2 hours.

Adam came home from work/school on Saturday afternoon to be here for fathers day. On Sunday we went to church, came home and barbecued, played cards, played some frisbee and had a nice day. We all ate way too much. There was steak, shrimp, hamburgers, ribs and Lorelei and Adam made some awesome brownies!

For fathers day I got an orchard ladder! Whooohooo....I really needed one. In the past during harvest of the apples and pears I either stand way up on top of my stepladder (not a safe thing to do) or I borrow a neighbors ladder. Now I have my own! Thank you family.

In other news around the place we are eating lots of fresh strawberries from the garden. I mean bowls full of strawberries!

Lorelei has frozen some and made lots of jam. The strawberries will start winding down, some blueberries are starting to ripen and we are also getting some raspberries.

About a month ago the chickens had stopped laying so they were given away. I mentioned to my neighbor that we no longer had chickens. He had a hen that had just hatched out 8 chicks so a deal was made for the hen and the chicks. They follow the mother hen around and hide under her to keep out of danger and to stay warm. When they are old enough we will return the hen to our neighbor.

June is a terrible month for allergies. Everyone but Jon suffers. The farmers will begin cutting the grass and the wheat this week and by the 4th of July we are generally over the worst of it.
