Everyone has been sick.....

Well everyone has been sick first Jon a couple of weeks ago then Cody, with Lorelei and I this last week. Just colds and flu stuff. I think we are on the road to recovery now.
I took Jon over to Salem last Saturday to run a 5K. There was not a lot of competition and Jon won easily with a low 18's time. Not bad for an out of season run. Below is Jon coming out of the Willamette University campus behind the bike spotter.

While Jon was running I wandered around with my camera. This was an interesting old building that has been renovated.

Cody is playing basketball. He practices twice a week and he plays two games every Saturday.

All the pictures are here.

I have shot a few of the high school basketball games so far this year. It's not the same without Jon or Adam playing but it's fun to be in the gym. All of the games I have shot so far are here.

So last week was my birthday. Yep I finally hit the big 50 and I am officially "over the hill". Wow I am glad that's over and I can stop climbing. Nice to know that the rest is all down hill! So Lorelei is VERY sneaky and has this surprise party. It was a pleasant surprise and everyone had a great time.

And of course afterward there was some music!

Last Friday, Adam, Lorelei and I went out to a local Wildlife Refuge to take some pictures.

Lorelei getting the shot.

We took some pictures of some of these.....

and some of these.....

There were lots of geese too.

Lorelei came back with this cool shot below. Of course it's from another one of her "secret spots".

Adam snapped the one below as the sun dipped behind the clouds.

We had a fun day!

Photography trip to the coast!

Lorelei has recently shown some interest in photography! So Jan. 2nd we headed over to the coast to take some pictures. Lorelei, Adam, Cody and myself hopped in the truck and headed out. We each had a camera and Cody made a list of things we would all try and get a picture of. What a fun day we had. We had to have Adam home early in the afternoon so he could return to Portland for his evening shift at his work place. So we did not have a lot of time at the coast but it didn't matter because we hit the "weather window" perfectly. When we first arrived it was raining and hailing but we could see some blue skies to the northwest so we waited in the truck for about 15 minutes and we were rewarded with about an hour of beautiful scenery on the Oregon coast. The following pictures were all taken by Lorelei,

Adam and myself conferring on which aperture would be best for this situation.

Lorelei came back with this beauty! She would not reveal her "secret spot" where she found this.

Below, when Lorelei showed me this one on her LCD on the camera, I said "hey what is that", of course her reply "I'm not going to tell you" I think she has an eye for this photography thing.

Below, Cody and I ponder the seagulls bathing in the freshwater stream ahead.

Below, intrepid photographers on a mission.

Below, Cody looking very adventurous.

Back at home.

Below are a few of my contributions for the day.

Take care everyone!
