Track season starts!

The "Icebreaker" meet was last Thursday. Every team from our district was in attendance. Amity has some bright spots this year. Jon is still having trouble with lumps in his calves so he only ran the 1500 this day. He had a great race.
Here he is on the first lap already with a huge lead.

The final lap Jon rounds the last turn and looks behind to see a lot of empty track between him and the second place runner.

Brrrrrrr still too cold.....

It was snowing this morning when I got up to go to work, it was snowing yesterday, it snowed Saturday night! Enough already.....we are ready for spring. Of course once spring hits and we all start sneezing we will be ready for summer.

Around the place I have been trying to get a jump on things. The boys and I have been trimming and cutting and making giant burn piles of vegetation. When we ignite these we get lots of cool smoke (Lorelei does not get nearly as excited about this as we do).

The grass is starting to grow so it's about time to sharpen up the blades on the mower.

Saturday was a busy one. Cody was in a chess tournament and Jon wanted to attend the local college track meet. So I took Cody into town and got him going at the tournament. He did well for being out of practice.

Lorelei, Jon and Nic (Nic is our neighbor and one of Jon's teammates) showed up in the mid morning at the tournament and Lorelei took over spectator/cheering section duties while Jon, Nic and I headed for the track meet. I wanted to see the steeple chase and the 1500 before heading back over to the chess tournament.

To be continued......

A great weekend......

Adam came home from college for the weekend! He arrived on Friday afternoon and stayed until Monday afternoon. He's doing well and enjoying college. No sooner had he arrived than we took Jon into town so he could leave for the weekend on the Youth's Winter Retreat. He had a great time and didn't break any bones on the sled run (unlike another member of the youth group).

On Sunday, Lorelei, Adam, Cody and I went over to our friends pond. We spent the afternoon fishing and hiking around looking for stuff to take pictures of.

Below....Lorelei says why are you taking pictures of me????

We didn't catch any fish! Cody built a campfire and messed around near the water. Below, Cody is wondering what happened to his worm and Queenie wants someone to reel in a fish.

As the sun set on another beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest we headed for home.

We are getting ready for Track season and Cody plays his last two basketball games on Saturday. He is signed up for a chess tournament the following Saturday with Jon playing in a three on three basketball tournament at the school. Spring is on the way and I haven't finished my winter projects. Oh well, if they don't get done then they just don't get done!

Only 5th grade basketball for now.....

Not a whole lot going on in the Pacific Northwest at the moment. Lorelei has been sick again, most all of us have had sore throats and just generally not feeling up to par. We have not been out to do any photography the past couple of weeks except I have shot Cody's basketball games on Saturdays.

Adam says he is coming home this weekend! It will be nice to see him. Jon heads out on Saturday morning for the annual Youth Winter Retreat. They go to a lodge up in the mountains and will be gone until late Sunday evening.

Cody has 2 more Saturdays of basketball. Spring track practice starts for Jon a week from Monday!

Cody's basketball team is doing awesome. Last Saturday they played the Dayton team that has been undefeated for the last 3 years and they beat them! What a great accomplishment for these guys.
Below is a few pics from last Saturday.

Colby and Charles battle for the ball.

Cody with the dribble.

All of the pics from this day are here.

The boys are all doing great in school. Jon is holding down a 4.0 even though he is taking some tough classes. Cody is doing awesome with top marks in his class. This is going to cost me again (We take them out for dinner whenever they have good report cards).

That's about it for now.
