June is allergies, Father's Day and Cody's birthday!

Yes.....June is the month we most suffer from allergies. Only Pam and Jon are immune. The rest of us suffer in varying degrees. The beginning of July it gets better so only another week or so! Father's day was quiet as usual. Adam and Pam were here on Saturday so we had some good food. Lorelei made a yummy berry cobbler to go along with steak and kabobs!

Early summer also means lots of flowers around our place. Lorelei and Cody enjoy the flowers.

And of course June would not be complete without the youngest member of the clan moving up a notch on the age scale. Cody turned 15 on Thursday prompting Lorelei to make a yummy batch of peanut butter cookies!

For Cody's birthday we got him a full size keyboard. He's been doing well with the piano and he had outgrown the smaller keyboard he was using. Adam helped us out and went to one of the big music stores in Portland to test out and purchase the keyboard. He and Pam showed up on Saturday with it and the boys promptly tried it out.

June is also strawberry month around our house! Pam went out while we were all working on other stuff and came back from the garden with this load. Lorelei made, home made shortcake to go with these.....yum!

So it all started last week when I changed the oil in Lorelei's car and I noticed her serpentine belt was cracking. I mentioned to Adam that when he was here maybe he could help me change it. He says "sure and if I'm going to be greasy anyway I might as well change my transmission seal that's been leaking". So of course what was suppose to be an easy morning of working on a couple of cars turned into almost a full day of working on three cars! Lorelei's serpentine belt turned out to be a piece of cake. Adam had a couple of issues with the seal and while he was doing that I started pulling the wheel off of the Civic to investigate a squeal which turned out to be worn inner brake pads! A trip into town for parts and we finally finished up about dinner time. All cars back on the road.
 Pam supervising the mechanics.
It was all just too much for Queenie!

So it's going to be a busy week getting caught up on yard work and getting ready for vacation! The truck has been checked out, new bearings and tires on the boat trailer. I think we are about ready to travel.
That's about all for now.

Wow.....am I behind!

Well if I don't post today I will have totally missed the month of May! The beginning of the month was the usual stuff except for Cody's Piano Recital! That was awesome and Cody did great! The end of the month, we finished up with a bang. My brother came into town for a visit and an auction. My dad flew in last Wednesday and the fun began.
As always, click on the picture for the full size version.

Then it was fishin time! The weather was off and on but we dodged rain showers for a couple of days and had a great time.

Busy.....busy....

Last weekend Lorelei and I started on building a deck outside the sliding glass door to the bedroom. We dug for footings and got all of the posts and joists in place.

Here is the "before"

 Lorelei measuring for the joists.

After a weekend working on the deck I decided to play hooky from work and Lorelei and I went fishing. We recently joined a fishing club where we have access to small private lakes and riverfront property.
 We had a fun day!

Yesterday it was back to work on the deck. Adam and Pam showed up to help! We had fun working together.Everyone was a great help. Pam is quite the carpenter! We all pitched in and "got her done".

That's about all for now.

Spring Break 2013

This year getting everybody together was a challenge! Jon's Spring Break was last week and Cody's was this week. With Adam working lots of hours it was tough getting us all in one place but we managed to do some fun stuff. Corina was off with her family to California so we didn't get to see her.

Last Friday the boys wanted to go bowling, so Pam and Lorelei went shopping while we took to the lanes. The boys went easy on their old dad (yeah right). Adam got a win but the rest of the day belonged to the old guy!

We got in some fishing over at the pond. I think we made two or three trips over there and Lorelei caught the biggest fish each time.
Jon with a nice one!

Yeah I know, hers is bigger.
Pam, Cody, Adam, Jon and Queenie
The kids played video games, did some music and some badminton. Of course we also had a rousing game of pinochle!

We finished up the week with a trip over to the coast. We had beautiful weather and uncrowded beaches!

That's about all for now!
