Christmas 2012

Dec. 24th
So we have this broken water line that Jon has been helping me with while he is home for Christmas break. On Christmas Eve I go out to work on it a bit, Adam and Jon come out to help. It's easy, just dig an 8 inch deep ditch across the yard. Well this is what happens when you try and dig in our yard.

When the boys were young we started the tradition of giving them pj's for Christmas Eve. When they got older, it was sweats, now it's more "sports apparel".

December is rolling along.....

Always lots going on this time of year. Jon's B-day then Lorelei's with Adam's right behind. Oh....did I mention Lorelei's B-day?
Jon got home from college on Friday Dec. 7th. He made the drive down from Seattle. It's always great to have him home. Adam came over on the 8th to celebrate his mom's birthday and to make her a cheesecake!
We had a rousing game of Pinochle.
Adam and Jon devising a plan to stomp their dad.

I'm trying to figure out how to possibly save my dignity here, while Cody is enjoying the demise of his father.

We took Lorelei out for dinner for her 55th Birthday. Oh did I mention we are now eligible to move into a senior trailer park ?? Yeah that went over real big with Lorelei when I said it too.

I always kid her (maybe I shouldn't so much). My beautiful wife inside and out!

We had a food drive @ work. Columbia Helicopters rounded up nearly 3 tons of food! My team of (15) members donated 1358 pounds! The competition was fierce. It's amazing what happens when you put a bunch of rough and tough guys and gals on a team and post a challenge to them. It was awesome fun and for a great cause. Below from L to R Brent, myself and Chris.
Adam will be here for Christmas and we will celebrate his birthday and the birthday of our Lord!

Thanksgiving 2012 and Jon's birthday!

On Wednesday afternoon the 21st Jon and Corina arrived. They drove down from SPU to spend Thanksgiving with us. Adam and Pam arrived Thursday morning and the cookfest began!

Jon, Cody and Corina made this awesome fruit salad.

Adam and Pam worked on a pumpkin cheesecake.

While everything was cooking there was time for other fun stuff.

As for me, I spent a lot of time planning and supervising to make sure everything was running efficiently.

Corina and Pam worked on the pumpkin pie.

Finally I was pressed into service and had to do some actual physical labor, but I wasn't happy about it.

We are so very blessed.

On Black Friday the kids and I were up early (Lorelei says to heck with that early stuff). It's kind of our tradition, we really didn't have anything in particular that we needed or wanted to buy, we usually go wander around a bit and then go out for breakfast. I did wind up with another portable hard drive to back up the home movies, Corina got some socks. Our best score came from the garage sale store (yes that's the name of it), where Corina got some nick knacks and I got a hole punch and a bungee cord!

We got home and had a snack and then, Adam, Jon and I headed down to the gym at our local church and met up with some guys for a game of pick-up basketball. Not sure how many more years I can do that. Either the boys are getting faster or I'm getting slower?

Then we came home and showered and off to Salem for dinner! It was Jon's 21st birthday yesterday and Lorelei asked him what he wanted her to cook for his special day. He says "oh Mom, I don't want you to have to cook, why don't you just take us to Red Lobster".

That's it for now!

October's almost gone.......

Wow! Guess I better get a post in for October. It’s been busy, busy for us. Home projects, work and some wonderful family visits have taken care of the month. Oh and of course a little fishing and crabbing.

So Lorelei and I were talking about changing the doors, trim and hardware in the house. I say to her, fine but you're going to help. She says "sure". So off we go on this project. The end of September we were at Lowe's getting the final wall blocks for an outside project. Lorelei heads for the door aisle while I'm searching for something. When I finally catch up with her, she's all excited because the doors are on sale. I say, "great hun , I did bring the trailer but it's going to be loaded with blocks and pavers for the new front porch, how am I going to load ( 7) doors on there also??" Well, we made it home with everything and the fun began.

Several  times so far Lorelei has said “I didn't realize there were so many steps to this, I thought you just brought the new door home and put it in”

Last week my brother Craig was here and we got in some fishing and crabbing!

My dad was also here this last week and we had a great time. We went to the air museum and we visited, Cody played us some music and we visited some more! We had an awesome game of scrabble that went back and forth until the final play, when my dad played out and I was stuck with a bunch of points, Dad and Cody tied for the win.

That's about all for now!
